Luke Robson shines at Ethnografilm Festival in Paris

We are so excited for Derrick Talent’s and Acting Performance Studios Leading Tutors Luke Robson, who has jetted off to Paris to attend the prestigious Ethnografilm Festival (www.ethnografilm.com) to represent his short film  ‘No Right Turn’.

NO RIGHT TURN is a self portrait documentary on what it would be like to be homeless in Melbourne. Presented by Marina Loncaric, filmmaker Luke Robson spends five days and four nights living on the streets whilst participating in the fundraising campaign ‘Live Below the Line’ where you have a food budget of just $2 a day.

Luke was honoured to have his film screened alongside Emmy Award winner June Cross  and then participate in a Q&A with both June and  film maker Costas Constantinos (pictured below with Luke).

Ethnografilm was held in the Cine 13 Theatre in April 4 through April 7. The festival has one of the best cinemas on the planet, at the highest point in Paris, just next to the famous Moulin de la Galette.  Ethnografilm also runs one day festivals in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the U.S.

Wes Shrum, ‘Professor of Sociology, Louisiana State University’ is the Director of Ethnografilm which is now into its fifth year.

Ethnografilm celebrates the art and science of non-fiction filmmaking and promotes the field of video ethnography, serving as a showcase for work and forum for dialog between independent and academic documentary filmmakers. Marked by its contemporary relevance and broad intellectual range, the objective of Ethnografilm is to promote the examination of cultures as well as social issues, describing “patterns of living” throughout the world to educate and entertain.

It’s been a busy 12 months for Luke. Last year he attended the now named AOF Mega Fest which is held in Vegas. His film ‘Words of a Teenage Writer’ (which also stars DTE’s Fletcher O’Leary & Brianna Bishop) won Best Short Short at the Action on Film International Film Festival and was runner up Best Short Short at the Hollywood Dreamz International Film Festival. Luke had such a great time at the festival last year, he plans to return again in 2018. The film also Screened at the prestigious Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Hollywood as a part of their Short & Sweet Film Festival.

Luke’s latest project is a short film called ‘The Disappearance of Frederick Valentich’ is about a young pilot that went missing over the Bass Straight after reporting a UFO. The film is based on a true story that is set in 1978 in Melbourne, the Victorian Coastline and over the Bass Strait. The story is very well recognised on a global level as it made international headlines and continues to do so. The short film has been adapted from the feature screenplay that he had written over the last 4-5 years, and was completed late December 2017. Both the screenplay and short film will be submitted to festivals all over the globe.
